Review the SRS component locations (see <a class="clsExtHyperlink" id="A00293839_S18823205802008080900000">COMPONENT LOCATION INDEX</a> ) and precautions and procedures (see <a class="clsExtHyperlink" id="A00293839_S11764122302008080900000">PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES</a> ) in the SRS before performing repairs or servicing.</p><a name="S24881183212008080900000"></a><h2 class="clsHeadTwo">Removal</h2> <ol class="clsARABICNUM"> <li>Make sure you have the anti-theft codes for the audio system and the navigation system (if equipped), then write down the audio presets.</li> <li>Disconnect the negative battery cable, then disconnect the positive cable, and wait at least 3 minutes.</li> <li>Remove the left front door sill trim and left kick panel (see <a class="clsExtHyperlink" id="A00293851_S33587034012008080900000">TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS</a> ).</li> <li>Disconnect the connectors from the fuse side of the under-dash fuse/relay box (A).<p><span class="clsFig"><a class="clsExtGraphicLink" onclick="ajaxModalImg($(this).attr('id'))" id="G05492782" name="S02850351012008080900000">Fig. 1: Identifying Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box</a></span></p> </li> <li>Remove the two mounting bolts and pull the fuse/ relay box away from the body.</li> <li>Disconnect the connectors and remove the under-dash fuse/relay box.<p><span class="clsNote"><table> <tr> <td class="clsNoteLabel"><span>NOTE:</span></td> <td>Some SRS harness connectors are the spring-loaded lock type (see <a class="clsExtHyperlink" id="A00293839_S29343669362008080900000">BACKPROBING SPRING-LOADED LOCK CONNECTORS</a> ).</td> </tr> </table></span></p> </li> <li>If replacing the fuse/relay box, carefully remove the relays by prying under the base of the relay.<p><span class="clsNote"><table> <tr> <td class="clsNoteLabel"><span>NOTE:</span></td> <td>Do not use pliers, they will damage the relays.</td> </tr> </table></span></p> </li> </ol><a name="S22740561402008080900000"></a><h2 class="clsHeadTwo">Installation</h2> <ol class="clsARABICNUM"> <li>Install the relays and connect the connectors to the under-dash fuse/relay box, then install the under-dash fuse/relay box in the reverse order of removal.</li> <li>Install the removed parts in the reverse order of removal.</li> <li>Connect the positive cable to the battery, then connect the negative cable to the battery.</li> <li>Do the ECM/PCM idle learn procedure (see <a class="clsExtHyperlink" id="A00293811_S22980909672008080900000">ECM/PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE</a> ).</li> <li>Do the power window control unit reset procedure (see <a class="clsExtHyperlink" id="A00293866_S31137938572008080900000">RESETTING THE POWER WINDOW</a> ).</li> <li>Enter the anti-theft codes for the audio system and the navigation system (if equipped), then enter the audio presets. Removal and Installation

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations (see COMPONENT LOCATION INDEX ) and precautions and procedures (see PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES ) in the SRS before performing repairs or servicing.

Removal

  1. Make sure you have the anti-theft codes for the audio system and the navigation system (if equipped), then write down the audio presets.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable, then disconnect the positive cable, and wait at least 3 minutes.
  3. Remove the left front door sill trim and left kick panel (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS ).
  4. Disconnect the connectors from the fuse side of the under-dash fuse/relay box (A).

  5. Remove the two mounting bolts and pull the fuse/ relay box away from the body.
  6. Disconnect the connectors and remove the under-dash fuse/relay box.

    NOTE: Some SRS harness connectors are the spring-loaded lock type (see BACKPROBING SPRING-LOADED LOCK CONNECTORS ).

  7. If replacing the fuse/relay box, carefully remove the relays by prying under the base of the relay.

    NOTE: Do not use pliers, they will damage the relays.

Installation

  1. Install the relays and connect the connectors to the under-dash fuse/relay box, then install the under-dash fuse/relay box in the reverse order of removal.
  2. Install the removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
  3. Connect the positive cable to the battery, then connect the negative cable to the battery.
  4. Do the ECM/PCM idle learn procedure (see ECM/PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE ).
  5. Do the power window control unit reset procedure (see RESETTING THE POWER WINDOW ).
  6. Enter the anti-theft codes for the audio system and the navigation system (if equipped), then enter the audio presets. Set the clock (on vehicles without navigation).
  7. Confirm that all systems work properly.
