Hood Opener Cable Replacement
NOTE: |
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to scratch the body and related parts.

- Remove these items:
- Disconnect the hood opener cable (A) from the hood latch (B) (see HOOD LATCH REPLACEMENT
).

- Using a clip remover, detach the clips (C, D), and remove the grommet (E) from the body, then remove the hood opener cable from the vehicle. Take care not to kink the cable.
- Install the cable in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Check if the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones.
- Route the cable through the holes (F) in the body and front fender bulkhead correctly.
Trunk Lid Opener Cable/Fuel Fill Door Opener Cable Replacement

) before doing repairs or service.
NOTE: |
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to scratch the body and related parts.

- Remove these items from the left side of the vehicle:
- Pull the carpet back as necessary.
- Disconnect the trunk lid opener/fuel fill door opener cable (A) from the opener (B) (see TRUNK LID OPENER/FUEL FILL DOOR OPENER REPLACEMENT
).

- Release the opener cable from the clip (C). Remove the cushion tape (D).
- Remove the fuel fill door latch (A) by turning it 90°, and detach the opener cable junction box (B) from the body.

- Disconnect the trunk lid opener cable (C) from the trunk lid latch (D) (see TRUNK LID LATCH REPLACEMENT
).
- Using a clip remover. Release the trunk lid opener/ fuel fill door opener cable from the clips (E, F).
- Remove the trunk lid opener/fuel fill door opener cable from the vehicle. Take care not to kink the cable.
- Install the opener cable in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
Hood Latch Replacement
- Remove the front grille cover (see FRONT GRILLE REPLACEMENT
).
- Remove the bolts, then remove the hood latch cover (A) from the hood latch (B).

- Disconnect the hood latch switch connector (A).

- Remove the bolts, then remove the hood latch (A) from the body.

- Disconnect the hood opener cable (B) from the hood latch. Take care not to kink the cable.
- Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
Hood Release Handle Replacement
- Remove the kick panel (see
TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS
).
- Remove the bolts, then remove the hood release handle (A).

- Disconnect the hood opener cable (B) from the hood release handle. Take care not to kink the cable.
- Install the hood release handle in the reverse order of removal, and note there items:
- Make sure the hood opener cable is connected properly.
- Make sure the hood opens properly.
Trunk Lid Opener/Fuel Fill Door Opener Replacement
Special Tools Required
KTC trim tool set SOJATP2014 *

NOTE: |
Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components. |
- Using a trim tool, detach the hooks (A) by prying the front side cap (B), then remove it from the front door sill trim (C), and remove the opener lock cylinder (D).

- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the front door sill trim (see
TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS
).
- Remove the screw, then remove the trunk lid opener/fuel fill door opener (A) from the front door sill trim (B).

- Install the opener in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Make sure the opener cable is connected properly.
- Make sure the trunk lid and fuel fill door open properly and lock securely.
Trunk Lid Opener Switch Replacement
NOTE: |
- Take care not to scratch the trunk lid.
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.

- Remove these items:
- Remove the bolts and disconnect the connector (A), then remove the trunk lid switch (B).

- Install the switch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Make sure the connector is plugged in properly.
- Make sure the trunk lid opens properly.
Trunk Lid Latch Replacement
- Disconnect the trunk lid opener cable (A) and trunk lid latch switch connector (B). Take care not to kink the opener cable.

- Remove the bolts from the trunk lid latch (C), then remove the latch.
- Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Make sure the connector is plugged in properly and the opener cable is connected properly.
- Make sure the trunk lid opens properly and locks securely.
