Trim Removal/Installation - Door Areas
Special Tools Required

Front Door Sill Area
NOTE: |
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to bend or scratch the trim and panels.
- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components.

- Left side: Remove the footrest (see step 6
).
- Left side: Remove the front side cap from the front door sill trim, and remove the opener lock cylinder and bolt (see
TRUNK LID OPENER/FUEL FILL DOOR OPENER REPLACEMENT
).
- Detach the hooks (A) and tabs (B) from the kick panel (C) and B-pillar lower trim (D), and pull the front door sill trim (E) up by hand to detach the clips (F, G), then remove it.

- Disconnect the trunk lid opener/fuel fill door opener cable (H) from the opener (I).
- If necessary, pull the front side outer trim (J) up to detach the clips (K), then remove the trim.
- Remove the left kick panel (A) or the right kick panel (B).
- Pull out the door opening trim (C) as needed from the kick panel hooks (D) and the door opening flange.
- Left side: Pull the hood release handle, and hold it.
- Pull the kick panel back by hand to detach the clips (E, F, G), then remove it.

- Pull out the door opening trim (A) from the trim hooks (B) and around the door opening flange, then remove the trim.

- Install the trim in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Check if the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones.
- Push the clips and hooks into place securely.
- Make sure the trunk lid opener/fuel fill door opener cable is connected securely.

Rear Door Sill Area
NOTE: |
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to bend or scratch the trim and panels.
- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components.

- Detach the hook (A) and tab (B) from the B-pillar lower trim (C), and pull the rear door sill trim (D) up by hand to detach the clips (E, F), then remove it.

- If necessary, pull the rear side outer trim (G) up to detach the clips (H), then remove the trim.
- Pull out the rear door opening trim (A) from the trim hooks (B) and around the rear door opening flange, then remove the trim.

- Install the trim in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Check if the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones.
- Push the clips and hooks into place securely.
Trim Removal/Installation - Pillar Areas

A-Pillar Trim

) before doing repairs or service.

- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components.

- Remove the A-pillar trim (A).
- Pull out the door opening trim (B) as needed.
- Pry the A-pillar cap (C) out until it is stopped by the hooks (D) in the grommet (E).
- Pull the trim back by hand to detach the clip, then pull the trim up.
- Release the hooks on the grommet and pull the cap out. Discard the cap.

- Install the trim in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

B-Pillar Upper/Lower Trim

- Remove these items:
- Remove the B-pillar lower trim (A).
- Detach the lower clips by pulling the bottom of the trim back by hand.
- Pull the trim down to release the upper hooks (B).

- Remove the upper anchor cover, and remove the upper anchor bolt (see FRONT SEAT BELT
).
- Remove the B-pillar upper trim (A).
- Pull the bottom of the trim back by hand to detach the lower clip.
- Detach the upper clip by puling the top of the trim.
- Pull the trim down to release the upper hooks (B) from the side curtain airbag B-pillar bracket (C).

- Install the trim in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

C-Pillar Trim

- Remove these items:
- Remove the C-pillar trim (A).
- Pry the C-pillar cap (B) out until it is stopped by the hooks (C) in the grommet (D).
- Pull the C-pillar trim back by hand to detach the clips, then remove the trim.
- Release the hooks on the grommet and pull the cap out. Discard the cap.

Trim Removal/Installation - Rear Shelf Area

- Remove these items:
- Remove the high mount brake light (A).
- From the trunk compartment, disconnect the high mount brake light bulb socket (B).
- Push the high mount brake light towards the rear window, and gently pry up at the back to release the front hooks (C).
- Release the rear hooks (D), then remove the high mount brake light.

- From both sides, pull the rear speaker grille (A) up to detach the clips (B, C), then remove the rear speaker grille.

- Remove the rear shelf (A).
- From the trunk compartment, release the hooks (B) from the rear seat-back lock cylinder (C), then remove the lock cylinder trim (D).
- Gently pull back front edge of the rear shelf to detach the clips.
- Lift the rear shelf to detach the clips.
- Pull back the lid (E)to release the hooks (F), then open the lid.

- Pull the rear center seat belt (G) out through the lid opening, and pull the rear seat belts (H) out through the slit (I) in the rear shelf.
- Install the shelf in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Check if the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones.
- When installing the rear shelf, slip the rear seat belt through the slit, and through the rear center seat belt into the lid opening in the rear shelf.
- Push the clips and hooks into place securely.
- Make sure the high mount brake light bulb socket is connected securely.
Trim Removal/Installation - Trunk Area

- Remove the clips, then remove the spare tire lid (A).

- Detach the clips, and release the hooks (A) by pulling the trunk rear trim panel (B) up, then remove it.

- Remove the clips (A), and detach the clips (B), then remove the left trunk side trim panel (C) and right trunk side trim panel (D) from the trunk.

- If necessary, remove the trunk floor spacer (A) and tie down hooks (B).

- Install the trim in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Check if the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones.
- Push the clips into place securely.
Trim Removal/Installation - Trunk Lid

- Remove the trunk lid protector (A).
- Pull back the outside of the trunk lid protector to release the outside hook (B).
- Slide the trunk lid protector to the outside, then release the hooks (C) to remove it.

- Remove the clips (A, B), then remove the trunk lid trim (C).

- Detach the clip and pivot the trunk lid handle (A) on the hooks (B), then remove the trunk lid handle.

- Remove the trunk lid hinge cover (A).
- Remove the clip (B), then pull back the trunk side trim panel (C) as needed.
- Remove the clip (D) and detach the clip (E).
- Left side: Release the trunk lid opener cable (F) from the hooks (G) in the trunk lid hinge cover.

- Install the trim in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Align the marks (H) on the opener cable with the hook as shown.
- When installing the trunk lid protectors, install them with the arrow marks toward the inside.
- Check if the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones.
Headliner Removal/Installation

NOTE: |
- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components.
- When prying with a flat-tip screwdriver, wrap it with protective tape to prevent damage.
- Take care not to bend or scratch the headliner.
- Be careful not to damage the dashboard and other interior trim.

- Remove these items:
- From both sides, using a trim tool, release the tabs (A), then remove the sunvisor cap (B) from the bracket (C). Turn the cap, and remove it.

- From both sides, remove the sunvisor (A) and holder (B).
- Remove the self-tapping ET screws.
- Remove the sunvisor from the body and holder.
- Disconnect the vanity mirror light connector (C).
- Using a flat-tip screwdriver, push the hook (D), and turn the holder 90°, then pull it out.

- Remove the roof console (A).
- Remove the lens (B).
- Remove the bolts (C, D).
- Pull out the roof console, and front individual map light (E). Disconnect the front individual map light connector (F), and ambient light connector (G).

- Lower the grab handle, then pry out the lid (A). Remove the self-tapping ET screws, then remove the grab handle (B). Remove the remaining grab handles.

- Remove the headliner.
- Remove the socket plug (A).
- Remove the front door opening trim (B) and rear door opening trim (C) from each roof portion.
- Detach the clip (D), and release the Velcro fasteners (E) by pulling the front portion of the headliner (F) down.
- With the help of an assistant, detach the rear clips (G) by pulling the rear portion of the headliner down, release the headliner from the frame (H) by sliding the headliner rearward, and lowering the headliner.
- Remove the headliner through the front passenger's door opening.

- If necessary, pull down the roof console bracket (A) to release the clip.

- Install the headliner in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

Carpet Replacement

- Take care not to damage, wrinkle or twist the carpet.
- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components.
- Be careful not to damage the dashboard or other interior trim pieces.
|
- Make sure you have the anti-theft codes for the audio system and the navigation system (if equipped), then write down the audio presets.
- Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, and wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.
- Remove these items:
- Remove the front seat belt lower anchor bolt, both sides (see FRONT SEAT BELT
).
- Push; the knob (A) back to release the hooks (B), then pull up the accelerator pedal (C).

- Detach the clips, then remove the footrest (A).

- M/T model: Remove the bolts, then remove the center console bracket (A).

- Disconnect the antenna lead (A) and antenna connector (B). If equipped, disconnect the side curtain airbag subharness connector (C), and release the harness clamp (D). Detach the harness clips (E), and on A/T model, harness clips (F).
A/T model

- Remove the bolts securing the change lever bracket or select lever bracket (A).

- Remove the floor mat holders (A) from the driver's side, and release the clip (B) from middle of the carpet (C).

- Release the hooks (D) with a flat-tip screwdriver by pushing the screwdriver toward the door, then lift upwards. Pull the Velcro fastener (E) out, then remove the carpet.
- Install the carpet in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Take care not to damage, wrinkle or twist the carpet.
- Make sure the seat harnesses and antenna lead are routed correctly.
- Check if the clip is damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace it with a new one.
- Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.
- Reset the clock.
- Enter the anti-theft codes for the audio system and the navigation system (if equipped), then enter the audio presets.
- Set the clock (on vehicles without navigation).
