ENGINE OIL LIFE/MAINTENANCE MINDER - PROCEDURE 1

  1. Turn ignition switch to ON (II) position.

NOTE: Models equipped with the keyless access system have an engine start/stop button instead of an ignition switch. ON Mode is the equivalent of ON (II)

  2. NOTE: On RDX: If the engine oil life is not displayed, press the SEL/RESET button on the steering wheel repeatedly until the multi-information display shows blank, SH-AWD and tire pressure.

  3. Push and release the SEL/RESET button repeatedly until the engine oil life indicator is displayed.
  4. Press and hold SEL/RESET button for more than 10 seconds. The remaining engine oil life reset mode will be shown on multi-information display.

NOTE: If you are resetting the display when the engine oil life is more than 15 %, make sure any maintenance item(s) requiring service are done before resetting the display.

  5. Press UP or DOWN button repeatedly until the RESET indicator is displayed, then press the SEL/RESET button. The maintenance item code(s) will disappear, and the engine oil life will reset to 100.
  6. If you want to cancel the oil life reset mode, select CANCEL.

ENGINE OIL LIFE/MAINTENANCE MINDER - PROCEDURE 2

Resetting Multi-Information Display

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  2. Press the SELECT/RESET button repeatedly until the oil life is displayed (if more than 15%) or the maintenance message is displayed (if oil life is less than 15%).

NOTE: If you are resetting the display when the oil life is more than 15%, the maintenance message "SERVICE DUE SOON" will be displayed. Make sure the maintenance items requiring service have been performed before resetting this display.

  3. Press and hold the SELECT/RESET button for 10 seconds until you see the maintenance message or "MAINTENANCE RESET". If the maintenance message is displayed, press and hold the SELECT/RESET button again for 10 seconds until you see "MAINTENANCE RESET".
    • To reset the display, press the SELECT/RESET button to select "OK". The next time the ignition switch is turned to "ON", the display will show "OIL LIFE 100%".
    • If you do not want to reset the display, press the <or> side of the INFO button to select "Cancel".

    NOTE:
    • If the required service is performed and the display is not reset or if the display is reset without performing the service, the system will not show the proper maintenance levels. This can lead to serious mechanical problems because there will be no record of when maintenance is needed.
    • If the indicated maintenance service is not performed and the remaining engine oil life is less than 0 percent, "SERVICE PAST DUE" will display, have the service performed immediately and make sure to reset the display as previously described.
    • If the message "SERVICE DUE NOW" does not appear more than 12 months after the display is reset, change the engine oil every year.

TPMS RESET - PROCEDURE 1

Tire Pressure Monitor System

NOTE: All four sensor IDs must be memorized to the TPMS control unit whenever you do any of these actions:
  • Replace the TPMS control unit.
  • Replace the Keyless Access (Some newer models)
  • Update the TPMS control unit (Some newer models)
  • Replace the tire pressure sensor.
  • Substitute a known-good wheel with tire pressure sensor.

NOTE: When replacing the TPMS control unit, use the HDS to memorize IDs.

NOTE: On models equipped with PAX tire systems, if a tire is repaired or replaced, the warning indicator (and the mileage counter that supports it) must be reset, no matter how far the vehicle was driven in the run flat mode. See appropriate manufacturer service information.

If low tire pressure indicator and multi-information display indicator(s) are lit continuously due to low pressure in one or more tires, adjust tire inflation to proper pressure as indicated on the tire and loading information placard. The light will remain on until tire pressure is properly set. If warning light is still illuminated or the TPMS indicator is lit continuously, there is a problem in the TPM system. Refer to manufacturer service information.

Memorizing Sensors IDs Automatically

NOTE: To ensure the control unit memorizes the correct ID, the vehicle with the new sensor must be at least 10 ft (3 m) from any other TPMS pressure sensor not installed on that vehicle.

After rotating the tires or replacing a tire pressure sensor, drive the vehicle for at least 40 seconds at a speed of 15 mph (24 km/h) or more, and all the sensor IDs will be memorized automatically.

NOTE: When replacing the TPMS control unit, use the HDS to memorize IDs. After the IDs are memorized, reduce the pressure in all four tires to less than the appropriate specification, and check to see that the four tire indicators come on.

Memorizing Sensor IDs with the Scan Tool (HDS)

NOTE: When replacing the TPMS control unit, use the HDS to memorize IDs.

NOTE: The HDS can memorize the ID of a new tire pressure sensor or a previously memorized ID.

  1. With the ignition switch in LOCK (0), connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC) (A) located under the driver's side of the dashboard.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II) (or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode).
  3. Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle and the TPMS control unit.
  4. Memorize the ID of the tire pressure sensor by following the screen prompts on the HDS. See the HDS Help menu for specific instructions.
  5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) (or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode).

NOTE: When replacing the TPMS control unit, use the HDS to memorize IDs. After the IDs are memorized, reduce the pressure in all four tires to less than the appropriate specification, and check to see that the four tire indicators come on.

TPMS RESET - PROCEDURE 2

Tire Pressure Monitor System

NOTE: All four sensor IDs must be memorized to the TPMS control unit whenever you do any of these actions:
  • Replace the TPMS control unit.
  • Replace the tire pressure sensor.
  • Substitute a known-good wheel with tire pressure sensor.

NOTE:
  • A TPMS sensor activation tool is necessary to do this procedure.
  • Let the vehicle sit for at least 5 minutes to allow the tire pressure sensors to switch to sleep mode.
  • To ensure the TPMS control unit memorizes the correct sensor ID, the vehicle with the new tire pressure sensor must be at least 10 ft (3 m) away from other vehicles that have sensors.
  • When doing a tire rotation, memorizing the sensors is not needed.

Memorizing Sensor IDs with the Scan Tool (HDS)

  1. Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC) (A) located under the driver's side of the dashboard.
  2. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
  3. Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle and the TPMS control unit. If it does not communicate, troubleshoot the DLC circuit.
  4. Select Sensor ID Learning from the Mode Menu on the HDS.
  5. Follow the HDS screen prompts to turn on the TPMS sensor activation tool.
  6. Hold the TPMS sensor activation tool near the valve stem of one wheel, and memorize the tire pressure sensor ID by following the screen prompts on the HDS.
  7. NOTE:
    • If you press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode before memorizing all four sensor IDs, the memorizing sensor ID is canceled.
    • If more than one sensor ID is displayed on the HDS, verify that the vehicle has not been driven for 5 minutes, and there are no other vehicles or tire pressure sensors within 10 ft (3 m).
    • See the HDS Help menu for specific instructions.

  8. Repeat procedure for each wheel until all four sensor IDs are memorized. When all four IDs are memorized, the low tire pressure/TPMS indicator blinks
  9. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
  10. Disconnect the HDS from the DLC.
  11. Test-drive the vehicle at 28 mph (45 km/h) or more for at least 3 minutes.
  12. Make sure the low tire pressure/TPMS indicator does not blink.
  13. Make sure the tires are inflated to the specified tire pressure listed on the doorjamb label.
