This rear axle, Fig. 1, is a semi-floating type, while the axle shown in Fig. 2 is of the full-floating type. The drive pinion of either axle is of the over-hung design, mounted on preloaded tapered roller bearings. Sealing of the pinion shaft is accomplished by a spring-loaded seal on the companion flange.
